What was only a few years considered taboo is now a mainstream trend. Mermaid hair, rainbow, hair, or vivid hair. Whatever you call it, it’s huge right now and stylists from every corner of the world have perfected these bright hues in amazing ways. I’ve been scouring the internet for some of the most impressive examples of this mermaid hair trend.

1. Rose Colored Reverse Ombre Mermaid Hair
This rose colored reverse ombre is absolute perfection. I knew I had to feature the color as soon as I saw this. Absolutely amazing, on trend, and everything that is mermaid hair.

2. Teal and Deep Purple Ombre Mermaid Hair
This amazing color of a deep purple to teal ombre was created by Jewels Erwin of Salon Sator in Maple Grove, Minnesota. I love the way these colors melt together seamlessly and the shine is unbelievable.

Visit Rebecca Taylor, a.k.a. @vividartistichairdesign on Instagram and you’ll see why I had a hard time choosing a look to feature. I went with this amazing “clouding” color technique, developed by the one and only, Guy Tang, modeled by writer/musician Coco Lloyd. Rebecca did a collaboration with him for this look and it really couldn’t be more perfect.

4. Pastel Rainbow Color Mermaid Hair
I love seeing stylists think outside the box and this look from Ash Fortis, a.k.a. @xostylistxo on Instagram, is not even in the same area code as the box. I absolutely love that strip of horizontal stripes that compliment this amazing mermaid hair color.

6. Purple, White and Pink Fade Mermaid Hair from @aikaslovecloset
@aikaslovecloset, or AikA, is a fashion blogger with a hair color that probably gets her more attention than her latest outfit; although those are pretty awesome, too. This deep purple roots that fade into a white into a pink into a magenta is truly a piece of artwork walking around on AikA’s beautiful head. Again, it was pretty hard choosing a look from his page to feature here because so many are outstanding. I thought this one took the cake as far as true rainbow hair was concerned.
